Peloton x Google Fitbit partnership.

Peloton classes will be available to Fitbit Premium members with new Peloton & Google Fitbit partnership

Peloton & Google Fitbit have announced a new multi-year partnership.

With this partnership Fitbit premium members will get access to a selection of Peloton classes. This will not be the full library, instead, “new content will be added to the app incrementally, to ensure a best in class experience.”

This will include a wide range of Peloton class types, including “Strength, Pilates, Running, Boxing, Cycling, Barre, and more.” For Fitbit users who don’t have a premium subscription, they will receive a “select group” of classes.

Through this partnership, Peloton members will receive discount offers on several Google devices. This will include discounts for Google Pixel Watch and Fitbit Charge 6. Neither Peloton nor Google Fitbit have shared what the discount amounts will be at this point.

The timing of this announcement comes as Peloton enters the second week of an outage with their Peloton x Fitbit sync feature. This feature allows Peloton & Fitbit users to automatically have their workouts & stats synced to the Fitbit platform.

However, that feature has not been working for around a week now. A status message was posted by Peloton on August 8th, saying that “We’re aware of an issue with members syncing some workouts to Fitbit. The team is currently working with Fitbit to resolve the issue”. At time of publishing, this feature was still not working.

This is Peloton’s second recent large partnership where they will be providing their class content to other platforms. The first came through a multi-year partnership with lululemon – whereby lululemon mirror members began receiving Peloton classes on their devices.

This partnership is across Peloton’s English-speaking regions. This means that Google Fitbit members in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia will receive the Peloton classes through the Fitbit platform. The classes should be available to Fitbit premium members starting sometime in September 2024.

This announcement comes on the same day as the new Google Pixel Watch 3 was released – you can see a hands-on review of the new device here.

Financial terms of this agreement have not yet been publicly disclosed. We have previously shared that lululemon is paying Peloton millions of dollars for access to Peloton classes on their platform.
