New “Peloton Personal Trainer” (by Trainwell) beta feature launched for personal coaching (virtually)

Peloton has launched a new beta feature called “Peloton Personal Trainer,” which pairs All-Access Members with a real, certified personal trainer for 1-on-1 virtual coaching – for an additional monthly cost. The feature is powered by Trainwell, a remote personal training company, and is currently available as a limited-access (invite only) beta on iOS devices only in the United States.

Select Peloton All-Access Members have begun receiving emails inviting them to join a waitlist for the program. The email reads:

“We’re excited to invite you to Peloton Personal Trainer beta powered by Trainwell. Work virtually 1-on-1 with a real personal trainer who builds a plan around your goals, coaches you directly, and keeps you motivated — seamlessly enhancing your Peloton experience.”

Those who join the Peloton Personal Trainer waitlist will be invited in waves as capacity allows. Once invited, members complete a short quiz and are matched with up to three trainers based on their needs and training style. After selecting a trainer, members schedule a 1-hour onboarding video call to review their fitness history, goals, and weekly schedule. From there, the trainer builds a personalized weekly training plan using a combination of Peloton classes and custom workouts.

Trainwell shared they have been working to build this feature out over the past year with Peloton.

The “Peloton Personal Trainer” will be a completely separate app from the main Peloton app (similar to how Strength+ works). You’ll see your schedule & plan in the Personal Trainer app, and then move over to the Peloton app (or your hardware device) to take the class.

The service includes unlimited messaging and video check-ins with your trainer, and plans are adjusted as your schedule or goals change. Workouts are regular Peloton workouts – completed on your own schedule – they are just assigning you specific ones to meet your goals. It is described as “Your trainer personalizes your plan using Peloton classes and targeted strength workouts based on your goals.”

They describe the plan as being flexible for each person, noting that “Your trainer will hold you accountable to a plan that fits your life, equipment, and schedule”, as well as “If your week changes, your trainer will update your plan so you can stay on track without starting over.”

The video calls are for onboarding and check-ins, not live workout sessions.

The website states that all trainers are certified by a nationally accredited organization and have at least 3 years of experience. Some of the example trainers listed have their certifications from ACE, CSCS, and NASM. Your coach you work with virtually will not be one of the Peloton instructors.

Peloton Personal Trainer costs $99.99 per month, billed separately by Trainwell – this is in addition to the All-Access Membership fee. There is a 14-day free trial that begins after the onboarding call, after which those who join will be charged the $99/month.

You can find the Peloton Personal Trainer waitlist page here, which includes more details.

Peloton already offers AI-powered personalization through features announced in late 2024 and 2025, including Peloton IQ (which provides real-time form feedback on the Bike+ and Tread+) and personalized training plans that use AI to build custom weekly workout schedules. Those features are included as part of the existing membership at no extra cost.

Peloton Personal Trainer appears to be aimed at members who want the human element – a dedicated trainer who knows their history, provides direct accountability, and can adapt plans based on real conversations rather than algorithms. At $99.99 per month on top of the All-Access Membership, it is a significant additional investment, though still less expensive than most in-person personal training.

Note that Peloton app members (whether you have App or App+) are not currently eligible – it is only for All-Access members who own hardware.

Peloton hasn’t shared plans for how quickly the current beta launch of this feature will expand, or how many members were invited to check it out.
