Peloton adding Google’s TalkBack Screen Reader to Tread & Tread+ soon

Peloton continues to add new features in order to make their products more accessible to more users.

During the Peloton Homecoming Keynote, Matt Wilpers shared that Peloton would be adding Google’s TalkBack Screen Reader functionality to the Peloton Treadmill. They are doing this in order to make the Tread (and most likely the Tread+) more “accessible to the blind and low vision communities”.

This update will allow users to navigate and access programming and metrics on the Peloton Tread devices. This will also let members get “real-time feedback about their speed and incline changes”

Peloton shared that more changes will be on the way:

We’re continuing our work with members of the accessibility advocacy community to develop an accessibility mode that will make the Peloton Tread a truly inclusive experience for all.

This feature was first added to the Bike during the summer of 2020.

More recently, Peloton added subtitles on live classes earlier last year.

If you haven’t caught up on Peloton Homecoming announcements yet, there were several other announcements made. In terms of content, there was the announcement of the Peloton Rower, and sharing new programs like Arms with Tunde as well as Peak Your Power Zones. There were other new features announced, like a new “Invite Friends” feature to be added soon as well as a “Just Work Out” feature that is already available to some people.
