Rumor: Peloton launching new beginner running training program for Tread: “You Can Run”

Update – This program is now officially available. You can check out all the details about the “You Can Run” training program here.

A new class that temporarily appeared in the on-demand class library indicates Peloton plans to launch a new training program for beginners to running. The program looks set to be called “You Can Run”, and is a 8 week program designed to build up your running endurance – with the goal to be able to run for 30 minutes straight by the end of the 8 week program.

The 45 minute run that appeared today, which was listed as 4/23/21 @ 9:00am ET, was called “You Can Run: Endurance” and was led by Becs Gentry. The description of class stated:

Celebrate your progress with Becs in a 12 min warm up before conquering 30 mins of running and a 3 min cool down.

During the intro of the class, Becs specifically states how this is “Week 8, Episode 2 of the You can Run Program.” She then goes on to state how this is the 16th (and final) installment of the class – implying that each week will have 2 core runs as part of the program. With it being the final class of the program, she leads members through 30 minutes straight of running.

The training program will be led by many of the Peloton tread instructors. Your “You Can Run” Peloton coaches include:

  • Adrian Williams
  • Becs Gentry
  • Jess King
  • Matt Wilpers
  • Selena Samuela

At another point in the class, she shares how the 1st class in the “You Can Run” program will be led by Matt Wilpers, and has you working towards 20 minutes of running in that very first class (not necessarily consistently), to start you off on your journey to the 30 minutes of straight running by Week 8.

In this class, the words “Peloton Couch to 5K” were never stated, however, this seems to be Peloton’s version of that program. Becs shared that she knows many people might have started the “You Can Run” program with the goal of signing up, or eventually completing a 5K – or coming close to one.

At this point there is no indication when the new training program will eventually launch – but it seems likely to either be sometime this week or during Peloton Homecoming, or alternatively, at the end of May for the US launch of the new lower cost Peloton Tread.
