Rumor: Peloton Row Will Cost $3,195 (Peloton Rower)

Peloton CEO Barry McCarthy raised eyebrows on the Q4 2022 earnings call last month when he declared that the Peloton rower will be “expensive.” This statement caused many members to wonder what exactly that means.

We have recently received information which indicates that the Peloton Rower will cost $3,195 in the US. As a reminder, the official name of the product is the “Peloton Row”. It’s worth noting that this price point isn’t 100% finalized yet, so could still possibly change before pre-orders begin.

At this time, it’s not clear what the Peloton Row will cost in other markets. The US website is currently the only market that mentions the Rower. The Australian, German, Canadian, and UK websites do not yet have splash pages teasing the rower – which has led to questions around if, or when, the Peloton Rower might launch in other markets. The Peloton Tread was released across different markets over the course of several months (and has still yet to be released in Australia) – while the Peloton Bike+ was available across all countries in a matter of days when it was released.

In terms of Peloton’s other hardware devices, that price point would make it the second most expensive product. The Tread, which now costs $3,495 after Peloton increased the price last month, would still be the highest dollar item (followed by the Peloton Row, Bike+, original Bike, and Guide).

Perhaps more importantly, however – this $3,195 price point for the Peloton Row is significantly more expensive than a Hydrow rower, one of Peloton’s top competitors in the rowing space. The original Hydrow rower retails for $2,495 – $700 less than what Peloton is rumored to be offering their rower at. The Hydrow Wave, Hydrow’s newest and lower cost rower, retails at $1,495 – $1,700 less than what Peloton is rumored to be offering their rower at.

Peloton first announced the long-anticipated rower at Homecoming 2022, but then went quiet for months until they added preliminary information to the website last week. Though they still have yet to share an official release timeline, McCarthy and other Peloton leadership have maintained that the device should be ready for the holiday season. We’ve previously shared evidence that there will be a pre-order phase when the Peloton Row goes on sale.

If you missed our previous reports, a good bit of information is known about the Peloton Row already. It has been reported you can store the rower standing up, and the Peloton splash page confirms that members will be able to take rowing bootcamp classes as well as scenic classes. One feature Peloton hopes will help differentiate it from Hydrow & others is the ability for the Peloton Row to provide form feedback to members during classes.

Peloton recently shared that they will be announcing both new & existing coaches for the Peloton Row soon. Besides Adrian Williams, Matt Wilpers is rumored to be a rowing coach. Former Olympic Rower Alex Karwoski is also possibly going to be joining the Peloton team.

If you’ve been awaiting the Peloton rower, what do you think of the rumored price point?

Have a bike, tread, and guide, but at this price the rower is a big old NOPE

I was interested until I saw the price…

WAY too expensive. I have the bike and tread as well. Was interested in the rower until I saw the price…

  • David says:

Way to expensive. Will stick with my Concept 2 rower. It is excellent.

  • Kimberly says:

Total drag. I can 2 1/2 Concept2’s for that price. One forme and a family member @ Christmas. Totally disappointed

  • Jenn says:

Have been looking forward this for years but price is way too high after spending $2700 on the tread. Will go for the c2 at this point.

  • Mark says:

I’m interested in the Row but at that price point, the Hydrow Wave is much more attractive and I prefer the out of the studio setting. I wish the Hydrow had a larger screen that would swivel and I’m sure Peloton will win on the bells and whistles but it’s a huge price difference.

  • Dave Caroline says:

Total miss. Stupid price point and just another example of why peloton’s management team needs a new job.

  • Shezer says:

I think Peloton are counting in the fact that exiting monthly Peloton memberships will cover the gap between existing well priced rowers and this hugely expensive premium product. It’s a possibility if you already pay membership fees but a NO if you don’t. Bottom line, Peloton once again is not putting members first. It’s losing loads of money and needs to stop the rot (caused by short sighted strategic investment in production facilities). Once again Peloton is putting cash before the veneer of being member centric! PS My Peloton bike is a great pice of kit, however. I do not like feeling that I am the one being taken for a ride!!!

I totally agree with the prior comments. Quite disappointed and disgusted with Peloton!
I too had been waiting for the rower but at this price point will have to choose another brand of rower. For all we know this rower is the Ergatta, just renamed! Peloton will really be the one to miss out. Hope they read these comments and adjust their pricing strategy. Happy customer = Happy company!

  • Matt says:

Have to agree with other comments re price point. I have the tread and Bike so have invested by £ in Peloton, but I also have a 20 year old Concept 2 – it has required zero maintenance and has never let me down. Conversely I’m on by 4th bike frame and 2nd tread monitor. I’ll stick with my concept 2 (which is retailing just under around £1000 in UK) and use the app.

  • Mike says:

They are out of their minds!!! WAY over priced when nordictrack and Hydrow are way cheaper!! I have the bike and tread +, I will not be purchasing this…period.

  • Jeff says:

I was in until I saw the price. I’ll stick with the rower that I currently have.

  • Nick T says:

Are they insane? Hydrow or Nordictrack p900 rower are literally half that price. Concept2 is 1/3rd that price. How can they dignify that price point feature set wise? Ergs are kind of ergs – they’re a pretty basic piece of gear. The classes are nice but Nordictrack offers them too. Huge fail peloton.

  • Colleen says:

Have a bike+ and a Hydrow rower. Love my Hydrow, my bike+ stopped showing my metrics after a year and a half, no way to fix it. Hydrow instructors all rowed in college and several are former Olympians with all live and on demand classes being on the water. Hydrow has strength training and yoga and pilates too, Hydrow over Peloton any day

  • MK says:

Can I trade my bike for the rower? If I can pay the dif, I’m totally in.

  • Jeanie says:

Have a Tread and Bike was looking forward to the Peloton rower but the price is ridiculous. Will stick with my Concept 2. Too bad Peloton you missed the mark on this one.

  • Edward says:

I bought the first bike, then the second bike. I’ve had to have the second bike serviced already but I still like the classes.

So I have been holding off on a rower giving the recent rumors of peloton coming out with one, but that price is ridiculous. I don’t know who is doing their marketing but it looks like they are trying to rape their customers to turn a profit. I will not be making that purchase unless it’s in the low 2k range.

  • Josh A says:

I have been waiting to get a rower because I figured they would come in around the price of hydrow and I already have the subscription. Now I am going to sell my bike and use a trainer and road bike and then buy a concept or hydrow. Peloton thinks they are Apple but they are running on android.

  • Mike says:

Like others who have previously posted I have the bike and I love it. I have wanted a rower for some time and assumed peloton would release one which would allow for me to utilize my subscription. I have avoided purchasing a hydrow during this time thinking peloton would do right by their customers and come in near the price of other equipment. Boy was I wrong. This has me considering even selling my bike and either switching to Nordic track or going back to the gym. Very disappointed.
