Report: Peloton scaling back size of customer service center in Ireland

Back in May, the Irish Times reported that Peloton was looking for office space in Cork, Ireland as the home for a new Peloton customer support center. They were reportedly looking for up to 70,000 square feet of office space, which could hold nearly 700 employees. In August, Peloton began posting job listings for the some of those customer service jobs in Cork.

It now appears that Peloton is planning to slightly scale back the size of their operation in Ireland. The Irish Examiner is reporting that Peloton is now looking for office space in the range of 10,000 – 20,000 square feet, rather than the initially planned 70,000 square feet. However, they are looking at locations which could scale up in the future to around 50,000 square feet.

They report three different reasons causing Peloton to scale back the initial size. This includes 1) poor Q4 2021 financial figures 2) treadmill product recalls and 3) Tapering off of demand for home exercise equipment

The Irish Examiner’s sources indicate that Peloton is still planning to keep the customer support center in Cork – but the smaller footprint gives them more options for where in the city to go.

It is expected that Peloton will have locked in a location for their offices in Ireland by the end of the year.
