Peloton files trademark application for use in Cosmetics (Non-medicated skin care preparations, skin cleansers, haircare preparations, body lotion)

Peloton has filed another Trademark application with the USPTO. This new trademark would grant Peloton exclusive usage on the Peloton logo and name for several categories of products, however, the most likely real world use would be for cosmetics or skin care.

In the application, Peloton applied for the trademark in the following US-based categories of products:

  • 001: Raw or Partly Prepared Materials
  • 004: Abrasives and Polishing Materials
  • 006: Chemicals and Chemical Compositions
  • 050: Merchandise Not Otherwise Classified
  • 051: Cosmetics and Toilet Preparations
  • 052: Detergents and Soaps

The primary international class would be “(Cosmetics and cleaning preparations) Bleaching preparations and other substances for laundry use; cleaning, polishing, scouring and abrasive preparations; soaps; perfumery, essential oils, cosmetics, hair lotions; dentifrices.” Another category for it listed “Non-medicated skin care preparations, skin cleansers, haircare preparations, body lotion”

A trademark application doesn’t necessarily mean that any products would come to light, but this could mean down the road we see Peloton launch custom branded cosmetic products in the Peloton apparel store.

Earlier this year, Peloton filed a lawsuit against Peloton Cold Brew, LLC, in a trademark dispute. In that case, Peloton alleges that the smoothies they sell following workouts could be confused with the bottled tea & coffee sold in supermarkets by Peloton Cold Brew.

Peloton has a growing number of Trademarks they have been granted, or have applied for. In 2018, they were granted a trademark on clothing. In 2017, they were granted a second equipment Trademark, which included Treadmills. The company filed and received their first trademark to cover their bikes in 2013.
