Peloton No Longer Offering Extended Warranties on Peloton Bike or Bike+ in Australia

Peloton has updated their service plans for hardware devices purchased in Australia. As of Tuesday, November 30, Peloton is no longer offering extended warranties on Bike and Bike+ devices (as a reminder, the Tread is not yet available for purchase in Australia).

The checkout page has now been updated to remove any mention and option for extended warranties on the Peloton Bike or Bike+ for Australian customers. Previously, the page included checkboxes allowing you to easily opt into buying an extended warranty in the checkout process (and members also always had the option of calling in to add the warranty after their purchase as well).

Additional information can be found on the updated Peloton Support page – where Peloton tries to make clear members are granted protections under Australian law, and there is still a limited warranty included.

Your hardware purchase includes a limited warranty, free of any additional charge. Peloton will repair or replace malfunctioning products or components within a specific time period, subject to the terms of the limited warranty. You can find the limited warranty for the Peloton Bike and Bike+ here.
Our products also come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

The page also includes a Q&A section with some anticipated questions from members who previously purchased a service plan in Australia.

Peloton will proactively grant refunds to members starting on December 1. Members can expect to see the refund on their original form of payment within 7-10 days. Anyone who purchased a service plan and does not see the refund on their account is instructed to contact Member Support. In addition, Peloton will continue to honor existing service plan contracts until their expiration. Peloton also says that they are “reimagining” their Service Plan offerings in Australia and will share details in the future.

Peloton officially launched in Australia earlier this year and expanded to new areas of the country just last month.

Australian members can read more about Bike and Bike+ warranty coverage here. Anyone who has questions or is experiencing issues can email support@onepeloton.com.au for assistance.

There is no indication at this point extended warranties are being removed for any country besides Australia.

This doesn’t really sound great given their recent drop in sales, discounted ticket price ($500 off what I paid in August) and talks of a buyout by Apple.

If I pay for a 2yr warranty and they discontinued it, reverting back to a 1 yr warranty I’m not going to be happy camper if it starts to break down after that time.
