Group Peloton Ride with Axios Pro Rata raises 1 million dollars for NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund

Last week Dan Primack, who is a business editor at Axios and author of the daily Axios Pro Rata newsletter and podcast, sent out a challenge: take the Two For One Black History Month ride with Alex Toussaint and Tunde Oyeneyin on Saturday, June 6th @ 11:00am ET. For every rider who took the class during this time, $100 per rider would be donated to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. In addition, several other backers had committed to donate over $100,000 as a starting point. Tunde heard about the fundraiser and shared news of it with her followers Saturday morning, challenging the Peloton community to join in and help raise money.

The Peloton community responded. With little notice, over 12,000 riders showed up and took the on-demand class within the hour time frame. This was enough to create over a $1,000,000 donation to the fund (at time of publishing it was near $1.08 million dollars). Tunde took to Instagram today to thank Axios and all the riders who took part in the class.

This is not the first time Axios has led a Peloton ride in order to raise money for a cause. In March, Dan issued a similar challenge in order to raise funds for Food Bank For New York City . Nearly 660 riders joined that class, which ended up raising more than $120,000 for the Food bank.

If you missed the ride but were interested in donating to the cause, there is a link on the Axios announcement to do so.
