Glitches with Peloton’s 2022 Annual Challenge Badges & 2023 Annual Minutes

In recent days, some members have reported issues with both the recently completed Peloton 2022 Annual Challenge, as well as the currently in-progress 2023 Annual.

As a reminder, Peloton’s Annual Challenge measures members’ total active minutes across all modalities available on the Peloton platform. Members can earn badges for minute totals between 1,000 and 20,000 minutes, with a total of 13 tiers available: 1,000 through 10,000, plus 15,000, 18,000 and 20,000. You can always get some help figuring out how many minutes you need to work out per day to earn a specific badge with our Peloton Annual calculator.

Since the year ended, some members have shared that their 2022 badges appear to have been retroactively changed and are now inaccurate.

This seems to specifically be affecting members who reached their final Annual Challenge badge within the last few days of the year. For example, if you were close to achieving 20,000 minutes and surpassed it within the final days of 2022, you earned the badge when you crossed the 20,000-minute threshold. The 20,000 Annual Challenge badge appeared both on your profile and on the Annual Challenge page itself.

However, within the past few days that badge may have since disappeared, so now you are only seeing the 18,000 Annual Challenge badge. In addition, you may see minutes deducted from your total progress toward the Annual Challenge.

This is not specific to the 20,000 tier – it has been reported by members at every tier of the challenge. There is not a guaranteed number of minutes that has been removed; members have shared that anywhere from single digits up to 200 minutes have disappeared from their 2022 annual total.

Thus, this issue is mostly impacting members who just made it across the finish line for a tier at the end of 2022. Some members have shared that they reached out to Peloton’s Member Support and have received varied responses – but there is no official status or issue created for the issue currently.

Some members have downloaded their workout history from Peloton as a CSV file, and done some calculations in excel to try to verify the discrepancy – and have found the numbers don’t match this way.

In addition, other members are reporting some quirks with how their minutes are counting to the new 2023 Annual Challenge. Specifically, they have only taken regular 15, 30, or 45-minute classes – yet have a total number of minutes like 167, which shouldn’t be possible taking those classes.

Have you experienced an issue with your 2022 or 2023 Annual Challenge total?

Yes, 20min class recorded as 19, first class of the year.

  • AH says:

I earned the 5k badge on Dec 31, and that appears normal. However this year, it shows an odd number of minutes despite only taking a few 30 min and 5 min classes.

  • Christina murdock says:

I just looked into my 2023 challenge and I have the same issue. My minutes are not calculated correctly. I shouldn’t have an odd number of minutes

  • Ashlee says:

Yep, definitely hasn’t counted all my minutes accurately.

  • Beverly Uricchio says:

My 2023 Challenge minutes do not equal my actual minutes so far this year. I literally just finished chatting with Peloton and she asked me to send diagnostics from my bike to her. I let her know that I didn’t think it had anything to do with the bike and it’s probably the meditation minutes not reflecting properly.

  • Elizabeth Martin says:

    I completed 18,000 on the 31st of 2022, now showing as only 15,000 🙁

  • Jodi says:

I wonder when they pulled classes off Daniel’s and kanye west classes if it pulled those classes from members’ count?

I personally haven’t had this issue but i know many who have mentioned it

  • Chuck says:

Odd number for 2023 here too!

  • Lynn says:

Ugh!! Crossed the line on December 31st to earn a badge for the annual and now that level has dropped.

  • Monique says:

Absolutely – I lost my 15k badge – my CSV shows 15089 mins but they still reverted it back. Frustrating.

  • FlyBenderFly says:

I reached out to Peloton multiple times this year. Multiple meditations are not recording. It’s much easier to notice early in the year. I have not taken the time to review 2022
but I am sure there are errors along the way.

  • Sergio says:

Yeah – did a 30 min strength and it only gave me credit for 8 mins.

  • Kat says:

I earned 15,001 minutes in 2022 along with the 15,000 badge and now my total shows 14,987 minutes. My 15,000 badge has disappeared and it shows I earned the 10,000 badge.

  • Amy says:

Odd numbers for classes in 2023 for me too and I earned 40,000+ points and now it shows 38.975 🤬

  • GK says:

Yep. Had been hustling for the days prior to get about 100 mins over those two final days but i did the minutes. I did a 10 min meditation (first meditation ever) on New Year’s Eve to get me to 10,003 minutes Got my 10k badge. Days later I’m at 9959! Oddly the badge shows 9k now yet it says ‘earned 10k’ under it.

  • Rob says:

I earned the 6k badge on 12/30 but my minutes were later reduced below 6k and I no longer have the badge

  • Julie says:

Mine for 2023 is off by 60 minutes!!

  • Nate says:

I earned 20k on 12/31, and now the app is only showing 18k. I contacted customer service and received the response below, so it sounds like they’re working on a fix.

“This is duly noted. On behalf of our Peloton team, I truly apologize for the outage that is currently occurring. I tried checking your achievements list but I only have access to your workout history. I was advised by our software specialists to allow 24 hours for the achievement to show up on your account. If the issue persists. Kindly contact us again so we can escalate this issue to our engineering team.”

  • Jessica says:

I completed 20K, and went over some, a day or two before the end of the year and now it says I only have 19,994 minutes. Very annoying. My 20K badge was there before but now I only have an 18k badge.

  • Elveen Mead says:

This has happened to me too. I reached 20k in the last week of 2022 and got my badge but now it says I only achieved 18k

  • Maria thomas says:

    I hit 20,000 with a few extra minutes dec 31 , 2022. I also now show 18,000 minutes !!

Is there going to be a correction on this ?? We all work hard on these milestones ..with 2,000 min taken away , that means a lot !

  • Alan says:

All classes taken on the Guide are 1 minute short in the 2023 Challenge. Classes from the bike are recording accurately

  • Donna M says:

Yes, I noticed that a 15 minute class wasn’t accounted for this past Monday. For some reason, I decided to add up all the minutes for 2023 and I was 45 minutes short.

I had a chat conversation with a rep on Monday and basically she shrugged and said there wasn’t anything that could be done.

  • Megan says:

I’m having the same problem. I worked hard to make my 4k badge by December 31st, and I did it! The 4k badge showed up that day. But when I looked today it now shows as a 3k badge, even though the minutes recorded below it says 4 thousand minutes. Really hoping they fix this.

  • Lyndsey says:

I have also noticed that my meditation classes aren’t being counted at all. Anyone else? I had 17 minutes to 1000, which again shouldn’t be possible with the class breakdown timings, and I took a 20 minute meditation. I didn’t earn the badge. I wondered if it was because I didn’t have my watch on and I used my phone vs the actual bike. It’s frustrating for sure to put in all this time and the calculations be way off already in 2023

  • Alisha says:

Yes! Worked so hard for the 10k badge in 22, earned it on 12/30, then it was downgraded to 9k :/

  • Caroline says:

I just did a 30 minute walk on the app that didn’t register on the annual at all. It’s so frustrating to spend so much money on a membership to have all of these numbers not be accurate.

  • Leah says:

My annual 2022 badge has also changed ! I was just over 8000 k at the end of December and now it only says 7k 🤨

  • Jen Stark says:

I’m still having issues with this and think that the guide only gives credit for 9 mins during a 10 min class. Based on Excel, my challenge is off by 235 minutes for 2023, and I’ve completed 223 strength (most of which were on the Guide but a few were app during travel). I’m chatting with Peloton now and they’re telling me to unplug my bike monitor. Umm No!

  • Summer says:

As of 4/14 it’s 50/50 whether or not the meditations count. There’s no rhyme or reason. Sometimes they count; sometimes they don’t. It was audio only but now it seems to be any meditation. By my calculations I’m missing over 5 hours of minutes so far this year in meditation alone.

  • tonya johnson says:

I don’t get the minutes for any meditations, audio or regular. It’s good to know I’m not the only one. It’s frustrating but I still take them because they are awesome. It’s unfortunate and sad that Peloton is clueless as how to fix this. I’ve reached out with no luck or solution.

  • Jessica Osbourne says:

I just noticed this too! Mine had always counted and then my last audio one did not. Hope peloton is seeing this!

  • Tess Clark says:

PeloBuddy, have you had any update on this issue from Peloton? I’ve logged several tickets with Peloton but no joy on the cause of the issue or how they plan to rectify it.
