Peloton provides delivery update for replacement seat posts for original Peloton bike recall

Over the past week, owners of the original Peloton Bike in the US & Canada have been ordering their free replacement seat posts for the original Peloton Bike. This is the fix the CPSC approved last week to fix the seat post for the Peloton Bike under the official recall.

However, most owners so far have had no estimate provided as to when the replacement seat posts might arrive.

On Friday, Peloton sent an email out to those who have ordered replacement seat posts to give them a shipping / delivery update. Unfortunately, it sounds like most members will have to wait a while longer to receive theirs.

Peloton is splitting owners into three groups, and shipping replacement bike seat posts in phases. Based on the criteria given for the groups, this is to get the seat posts out to those that are “most likely” to have the seat break, which as shared in the Canadian recall, is “primarily in users who are taller than 5’11” (180 cm) and above 250 pounds (114 kg)”

The first group (Group 1) is those who have their profile filled out and have indicated that they are over 250 pounds, or those are over 5’10” and those who don’t have a weight filled out.

The second group will be everyone without a height or weight filled in, “or in usage environments where that information may be unknown” (which would presumably be hotels and other such scenarios).

The final group is all other owners requesting seat posts.

Peloton shared that all Group 1 owners are expected to receive their seat posts by June 2, 2023 – which is two weeks from now, or three weeks from when the recall notice went out.

Peloton does not have any further guidance for owners in Group 2 or 3, instead directing those owners to check https://account.onepeloton.com/orderhistory beginning June 2nd for further updates & delivery estimates.

If you haven’t ordered your replacement seat post for the original Peloton Bike yet, you can do so here: https://www.onepeloton.com/replacement/checkout.

Peloton has stated the recall does not impact original Peloton Bikes in Australia, the United Kingdom, or Germany.

Absolutely maddening. They say “stop using the bike until the faulty part has been replaced,” and, you know, they’ll get around to sending it *some day.*

  • Anne says:

Estimated ship date is DECEMBER? This is ridiculous! I requested our recall in May! Might as well just sell the damn thing if we have to wait 6+ months!

  • Gustave says:

    Feel the same way!

  • James Kahan says:

Ordered my replacement May 20th and in theory should have been group 1. Still no part or update as of October 10th.
